These are just some of the projects we've designed and installed. If you

Bay Park "Before and After"
This is a job we did in Bay Park. The original heating system was a
hydro air system - hot water coils in the HVAC air handlers. The owner
hated the lack of comfort and asked us if we could improve the situation.
We re-piped the boiler to a primary/secondary configuration and heated
the entire first floor with radiant, installed from the unfinished basement
below. The comfort level has increased dramatically, and the boiler
runs much less frequently!
Modular Boiler Installation:
 |
This is a Slant/Fin Caravan modular system that we
installed in Brookville. The home was converted from oil-fired steam
heat to gas-fired hot water heat. We installed 17 zones including
radiant floor heating, convectors, hydro-air coils, and hanging
unit heaters in the garage and crawl space. We used a combination
of circulators and zone valves to get the clients the results they
wanted. Domestic hot water requirements were satisfied with two
(2) SuperStor 80-gallon indirect fired water heaters. |
Buderus Stackable Water Heater/Boiler Combination:
This is a boiler and indirect domestic hot water tank combination that
we installed in Oceanside. The entire boiler room is a closet with a
footprint of less than 10 square feet (where there's a will, there's
a way!) This system is manufactured by Buderus Hydronic Systems and
includes a control package that is fully programmable and provides outdoor
reset capability. Outdoor reset monitors the outdoor air temperature
and adjusts the boiler water temperature accordingly. As the weather
gets colder, the boiler water gets hotter (and vice versa). This allows
for a fuel savings of 25 - 30 %. The control also integrates the domestic
hot water production, hot water re-circulation, warm-weather shut down,
night setback and vacation setback.
29 Zones in Head of the Harbor:
These are shots of the boiler room in a home we did in Head of the
Harbor. All together there are 19 radiant floor-heating zones, 9 hydro-air
coil zones, and even a snow melt zone for part of the roof! In addition
to the boiler room, we have a mechanical room on the second floor. The
floor covers include tile, wood, and carpet and every room has its own
thermostat. The boiler and indirect domestic hot water heater are manufactured
by Buderus.
South Massapequa on the Bay
The entire first floor of this home is ceramic tile with radiant floor
heating. The boiler, provided by KeySpan, is a direct vent manufactured
by Dunkirk; an 80-gallon SuperStor indirect heater supplies the domestic
hot water.
Salisbury Renovation "Before and After"
We came into this project "mid-stream". The owner had hired
us to design the heating system, but was using the builder's heating
contractor. Shortly into the job, the owner became dissatisfied with
the results he was getting. We let the owner know that he would save
a great deal of fuel by changing the equipment (the builder wanted to
keep his bid price down by re-using the existing boiler and installing
an oil fired water heater.) We installed a smaller Slant/Fin Liberty
boiler and a SuperStor 60 gallon indirect water heater; the boiler is
vented with a Fields SWG power vent. A Taco outdoor reset weather responsive
control increases the fuel economy and comfort level (see "Hydronic
Solutions Boiler Installation" on our FYI
page).
New Restaurant, Merrick L.I.
Due to the high ceilings in this restaurant, the owner was concerned
that a scorched air HVAC system would make his customers uncomfortable
while dining, especially on the balcony level (that's where we took
the picture on the right). Because warm air rises, we explained that
the balcony level would be overly warm, while the main level would always
feel cold, especially with all the glass (the building is designed like
an atrium). We installed radiant floor heating on both levels, and piped
in hydronic coils to the air handlers as a back-up/supplemental source
of heat. Burnham manufactures the boiler.
Overlooking the Hudson River, Riverdale, NY
 |
We were contracted to install the heating system in
this home, which is owned by New York University. There are a total
of 14 zones covering four floors. We installed a Buderus G334X series
gas boiler with two stage firing capability and two 106-gallon indirect
water heaters. In addition to the boiler room, we have a mechanical
room on the second floor. |
Hot Water Conversion, Bay Park
This job was right next door to the Bay Park job at the top of the page.
We converted the gas-fired steam system to an 11-zone hot water system.
We installed Slant/Fin baseboard fin tube on the second floor and radiant
floor heating for the first floor. We used a combination of joist heating
and Radiant-Trak for the installation (see "Why Radiant Heat"
on our FYI page for details). We also installed
an outdoor reset weather responsive control package by Taco.
